University of Nairobi students earlier today thronged the lines of the voting center to elect the university leaders (SONU). After a series of campaigns, the candidates today mobilized their supporters to an early voting process.
The mostly contested race is that of chairmanship that attracted the interest of bigwigs such as Zack Kinuthia, eng. Evans Kimori and Janganya among others.
Another contested race is that of Legal affairs where Jacknorine Bulemi, Omoke Morara and Isaac Muuo are fighting for the seat. Rivals Irine Kendi (mama yao) and Linda Sohelo are fighting for the Gender ministry.
The voting has been going on well despite slight hitches. In Kabete Campus, comrades complained of an alleged rigging plan where ballot papers were finished before other students could vote. The election committee assured them that more were to be supplied.
The voting is perceived to have taken the line of National politics where candidates are seen to be supported by coalitions such as CORD and JUBILLEE.
